Adhesive Storage

Jul 13, 2021

Adhesives are mostly made of macromolecules as the soil, and some require a certain amount of solvent to be cured by chemical reaction or physical action. These will happen slowly during the storage of the adhesive. Therefore. Adhesives have a certain storage period, which is related to storage conditions, such as humidity, temperature, and ventilation. In order to ensure that the performance of the adhesive is basically unchanged within the specified period, it is necessary to strictly pay attention to the method of storing the adhesive. For different types of adhesives, due to their different properties, storage conditions are also different.

The precautions for the storage of several commonly used adhesives are summarized as follows;

Epoxy resin adhesives should be stored in a ventilated, dry, cool, and room temperature environment for a period of six months to one year.

The phenolic resin adhesive should be stored in a closed container and stored in a cool place away from fire. The period is six months to one year.

The polyisocyanate glue should be put into brown bottles and stored at low temperature and protected from light. Metal containers and rubber and cork stoppers should not be used. The prepolymer polyurethane adhesive must not be stored at low temperature to prevent condensation. The storage period of the first component is 2 years. The second component should be protected from moisture and avoid moisture or other content. The period of contact with active hydrogen is six months to one year.

The storage temperature of urea-formaldehyde resin adhesive should be as low as possible. If 5% methanol is added to improve storage stability.

The container for the neoprene adhesive has better tightness. Store at room temperature, not too high (>30℃) or too low (<5℃), away from fire. The storage period is 3-6 months.

a-Cyanoacrylate adhesive should be stored in a sealed, low-temperature, dry, dark, and cool place for a period of 1 year. The storage period of glass bottles is longer than that of plastic bottles.

Anaerobic glue should be stored in a cool, dark place. The storage period is half a year. The material of the packaging container should be polyethylene. Do not use iron containers. They should not be filled to prevent solid insulation from air and polymerization deterioration.

SGA adhesive should be sealed and stored, and the two components must be separated and placed in a cool, ventilated, low-temperature, and dry place for a period of six months to one year.

Polyvinyl ester emulsion (milk white glue) should be packaged in glass, ceramic, and plastic containers. The storage temperature is 5-30c. Take care to prevent freezing. The storage period is 1 year.

Hot melt adhesives should be stored at room temperature, protected from light, heat insulation.

Inorganic adhesives should be sealed and stored to prevent moisture absorption from affecting their use.
